COMMITTEE REPORTS:

·         Membership - (Hengel) 140 paid dues.

·         Newsletters - No report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

·         Carp reduction - assistance needed for netting. A very complete presentation was given by Mr. Jeff Riedermann of JR Commercial Fishing who will be doing the netting of carp if weather and ice conditions permit. Issues that were identified:

1.            Providing security when he drops his nets. Jeff looks to net in February or March. It depends on when and how the carp school up.

2.            Where he enters the ice will be an issue.

3.            Jeff reported that netting has been a very effective way to reduce the carp population.  Because we have waters that contain invasive species, he will need special nets for the lake. As the lake clears up, the carp will leave on their own. They do not like clear water. The fish will be transported to Wabasha, MN for processing. For those who did not attend the meeting, you missed a very interesting presentation. Jeff reported that the reduction of carp will greatly improve game fish reproduction.

·         Fish contest - assistance needed?  No. Proceeds will be going to Big Brothers Big Sisters.  The contest is set for 11 Feb 2012, noon to 3:00 P.M. Preregistration is required and you can get a registration at Rumors Bar & Grill. Registration is $20.00 and you need to make the check to Big Brothers Big Sisters NLT 27 Jan.

NEW BUSINESS/CORRESPONDENCE:

·         Requests for funding from townships - funding request will be made to both Langola and Watab Townships.

·         Workshop on how to access Legacy Funds - tabled to next meeting.

·         Anyone lined up for buffer strips? - We will be making final contacts with the folks who desire to have them.

·         We need to have a list of volunteers for buffer strip development - We will need the volunteers.

·         Lake ice conditions - Hovda reported that several fish houses have went thru the ice.   Everyone needs to use extreme caution when venturing on the ice.  There is open water at both ends of LRL.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER:

·         Marilyn Corcoran inquired about the TMDL study. Guy reported that it should be coming shortly.

ADJOURNED: At 11:45 A.M.

Respectfully submitted,
